Pretty sure there was a tantrum going on here in Central Park
The view from our room.
We decided on New York Friday morning after Priceline gave us a good rate on a hotel. Go Priceline! We had a great time between tantrums, NYC did not quite cater to our little spoiled child as much as she would like. She loved the taxi's, the toy stores, and the playgrounds. She did not love top of the rock, hubby and I did though. Our hotel was directly across the street from the WTC site, our room looked down into the construction. It was horribly depressing. We walked across Brooklyn Bridge and wandered around Brooklyn to buy a stroller. THAT was an experience! Little A was an angel on the flights both to and from. Oh and Century 21 is my new favorite shopping spot. I saw Maggie from Extras there, stalked her a bit. My feet and legs are terribly sore from all that walking, no wonder everyone is skinny there!

Travelling dilemma
Hubby has a couple of extra days off this weekend. He wants to go to New York or Las Vegas. All is good with that but I am the one that has to make all the plans and figure the shit out. For instance, do you have to have a car seat to ride in a taxi in NY and LAX? How much easier would it be to just get a decent stroller and leave the car seat at home, we could travel by bus and subway with no car seat. Why drag the dullard along if he is only falling in the might be handy section. I HATE dragging around carseats and we are not doing this enough to justify the 5 in 1 monster craption that is out ther. Even doing this much thinking about it makes me want to just stay home and unload some more boxes. Have a garage sale and call it a day. We don't needs to see nuttin. Not to mention when we get our stressed out asses to the place we are going then we have to pay an assload to sleep there.
d
Little A is insisting on typing whenver I type .. driving me a bit mad but herre is her contribution.

New layout ooopsies
I was inspired by the blogging royal family.. you know who you are.. to change my blogs layout. I should have just left well enough alone!
2 hours later I have gotten most of the pieces put back together from the explosion that occured in my poor blog.
I lost my link of blogs that I follow, I have gotten a few back up but I am going to have to go on a seek and find mission tomorrow.
I think I am just a bad bloggerer. I should stick to pen and paper!

What day is it?
I ask this question a lot lately. They all run together with no real schedule to rule the world.
I put a calendar on the computer so I can stop asking everyone and getting that look.
Cooked dinner last night, due to allergies my taste buds are not what they should be and it didn't tast right to me, everyone else either loved it or were being uber nice about it.
I really have to get this sinus thing sorted out, I think I am allergic to the cat and dog... so while we are living with the in laws I am going to be sneezing my balls off. Not that I have any left to sneeze off anymore.
On a side note, Charlie and Lola is growing a little less annoying as each episode goes by.

100 posts
Little A came home from the grandparents with an art project for us to do. We had so much fun and her tiny little fingers were very handy in punching out eyes for the tiny skulls. There is just something very not right with that last sentence.

Allergies?
I don't think a day has gone by since Sept 12th that I have not spent the day sneezing. It seems I am allergic to everything these days. I have tried pills, snorting nasty medicine up my nose, antibiotics, all to no avail. I think I am going to google voodoo and see if they offer any good remedies.
I want to cut my hair.. run off to the salon and whack it all off. This is the perfect moment as hubby is at work and Little A is with her grandparents. But I can't seem to muster the energy to get out of my squishy new bed. Maybe cable wasn't such a bright idea, I keep getting sucked into watching movies when I should be moving.
I am off to wrestle my procrastination demon.

Sneakin in
I had to sneak onto the internet. They were supposed to install it yesterday but failed to accomplish their task. Rescheduled to do it tomorrow so I am sneaking on today. SHHHH don't tell!
I haven't been on a computer in 3 weeks. I feel like a smoker sneaking a cigarette. It's so good that I can't just have one, I want the whole pack!
I have been asses to elbows in boxes and kleenex. Unpacking, cleaning, sorting, and sneezing are how I have been spending my days. Moved in with the in-laws temporarily until we figure out what is going to happen to hubby's job. They are sweet and great to live with, it is an adjustment though. I must say that having extra hands to watch Little A is awesome. Having someone else around to entertain is a great joy... it takes a village I tell ya. I think if it were just the two of us all day I would go bonkers.
OK, speaking of Little A my sneaking onto the internet must end.
Uncruel I heard you were in town, hope you had a good time and wish we could have seen ya! Sub, glad you are having fun but all that afterglow is a little sickening. :)

Last hour
and I am officially retired. I have been given assurances by people who make a lot more money than me that if I need a job I have one, I feel much better given the current state of unknowingness going on.
Not sure if that is even a word.
I am so happy!

Not making any more plans
Every plan I make falls through, so I give up.
1 day to retirement and we find out that Chase bought WAMU.
There is already a Chase branch in hubby's parking lot next to WAMU.
Uh oh

Working during the hurricane
Slowly but surely people are getting their power back and have shared their pictures of our work environment during the hurricane. I was awake for 48 hours, no naps just lots of caffeine, and I worked a 25 hour shift. We were delirious and slap happy to say the least (must also add annoyed, excited, hungry, cranky, and angry).. the seven dwarfs were all in attendance.
Bus ride to the hotel after working 25 hours.
Close quarters, no personal space!
Where we watched the hurricane without getting wet.
The picture isn't blurry, we were after the sleep deprivation

Homeless
Sub was kind enough to take us in. He has power and we were able to finally do our laundry last night... SCORE!! We are extremely grateful to have such kind friends and family to help us out during our homeless stint.
Little A was crying last night that she wanted to go home, all I could do was hold her.
5 days of work left, yes even in the midst of Ike induced fatigue I am still counting down.
Stay safe, Stay dry, and for those without power I hope it comes on soon!
edit....... alright, f-it it's my blog and I am tired of being nice, the ungrateful b**** emerges eventually. Nice is running rampant in Houston and I think it has made me edgy. 2-3 other people in my office, besides myself, also have been unable to return home due to house damage. We are having to sit here and hear stories about food grilling block parties, neighborhood get-togethers etc.
People are whining and complaining about not having electricity, not being able to do this do that blah blah blah. Personally I really wish that no electricity was my biggest issue right now. I would happily trade with someone. No, we did not get hurt, yes I am grateful for that... but I am still pissed about not being able to go home. Annoyed that I have lost my VERY comfortable bed and have been put at the mercy of hotels and friends for a place to sleep, shower, and try to maintain a normal routine for my child.
Awe, the kids are driving you crazy b/c your babysitter (the tv) doesn't work right now?? Mine is crying in my arms that she wants to go home and I am tryin to muster a sympathetic face for the poor power outters. GO READ A BOOK.
OK, rant over, smile back.
Scratch that, rant on. I logged into FEMA's website to check the status of our claim that I made to try and get some assistance for our current homeless state... now keep in mind that I spoke with the insurance company (renters insurance) and they are not going to be out to assess the damage until next week.
Denied-FEMA has determined that you have insurance on your home and FEMA cannot provide assistance where there is adequate insurance coverage. Please provide a copy of your insurance settlement or denial letter in order to be considered for further assistance.

After Ike
It is a different city.
No power, no street lights, you can actually see the stars.
We are all fine, homeless but fine. Had a tree go into the roof, which caused the house to flood. My bedroom is currently covered in pink fluffy insulation. Well its all wet and not really fluffy right now, still it looks like cotton candy.
The storm itself was pretty amazing. The bunker we were located at created a few good spots where we could go outside and watch. We were in the same place that Fema, Harris county emergency Manag., and the Houston Chronicle were. It was really pretty cool, exhausting but interesting.
I am tired, sore from hauling trees, stuffy with allergies, but thankful that our only loss is our stuff, our family is all safe.

Panic
I am excited about staying home but now I am starting to panic. As my days draw to an end here the panic is rising.
How much am I really going to enjoy this? Usually I am not one to shy from change but this realm of stay at home momhood is completely foreign to me.
What am I really going to do?? What motivation will there be to get dressed and face the day? And seriously how do you entertain a 3 year old EVERY single day, day in and day out, all the days look like they are going to run together. No more TGIF, it will be a perpetual Saturday.
I am probably panicking over nothing, but I can't seem to quiet the nag in my head.

What have I gotten myself into?
I thought that "retiring" from the airline would create such an abundance of time on my hands that I would go a bit crazy. People have taken it upon themselves to assign me "tasks" to accomplish with all my time off. Everything from packing, moving, selling, dog sitting, kid sitting, book clubs, mothers groups, craft fairs... you name it and someone is trying to get me to do it.
I draw the line at the kid and dog sitting. I don't mind helping someone in a bind, every blue moon or so.. but I am not... I repeat NOT...a child/animal dumping ground. In fact I think I am going to get a bill board for the front yard that says that.
Little A wakes up every morning and asks if I am finished working yet. Almost love, almost.

Birthday blowout bash
I hear Little A had a ball at Austins party. I hear jumping and swimming and lots of giggles were had. I am sure that Little A is going to give me an earful when she wakes up in the morning about how much fun she had. Wish I could have been there, I can't believe how fast our little rascals are growing. Can't wait to see the pictures!!
I am truly looking forward to being home all the time and watching the day by day growth instead of catching glimpses in the mornings 4 days a week.
5 more weeks at work...well, at the "paycheck" kind of work. 5 LONG weeks.

Mamma Mia
Went and saw this on Sunday for hubby's birthday. Little A thought it was great, she has been listening to the sound track with her Grandma for a while now. I ended up buying the soundtrack too since she liked it so much. Now as we are riding around she is in the backseat just singing along.
Truly one of the funniest things I have heard, she knows ALL of the songs!
Now I am on the lookout for more musicals that we would both enjoy. Suggestions welcomed!!

Twighlight Series
Have you read the Stephanie Meyer series?
No? Really, hmm maybe because your an adult and don't shop in the Teen section of the bookstore. I bought the first one a few weeks ago at a used bookstore. In my defense I didn't know it was a "Teen" series. I was a bit shocked when I went to buy the second one and couldn't find it in the fiction section. I had to wander around a bit and found it on the teen aisle. I don't know why I was shocked given the content, the "g" rating of it... but the bestseller status of it threw me off. Never see Christopher Pike on that list.
Anyway, these books have become a guilty pleasure. I keep finishing them in 1 or 2 sittings, a difficult feat with a toddler, husband, and more than full time job. The size of the book is an illusion though, the type is large and the words fall in the 10 cent category so it really is a fast read.
I am torn between love and hate with these books. I love the characters, the plot, and the flow of the story. I hate the writing! Seriously I do not need to be reminded every 5 pages that it is about a vampire, a werewolf, or a rehash of what happened in the last chapter. Is the generation that it is geared to so brain damaged that it is assumed they will not retain information they have read? I know part of it is so that someone not reading the series in order isn't completely in the dark, but every 5 pages is overkill! Another thing, why are the vampires in high school? I personally would go insane if I kept repeating high school, really not sure why the vampires would do that. But really other than a couple of quirks I have really enjoyed the series. I am on the last book now, and I hear they are making a movie of the first. I doubt that they will do it justice.
Don't let my rant put you off, I really do recommend the series.. go sneak into the teens section and do a grab and run.

28 Days
I quit.. ok maybe not so much as quit as opted for early retirement. I couldn't resist the severance package.
I am scheduled to work for exactly 28 more days.. throw in weekends and it's really a lot longer. They have given me a tentative end day of September 30th.
I can't believe it.
I have been peeking into the world of the stay at home mom as that is what I intend to do till Little A starts kindergarten. It's exciting and scary at the same time. It will be an interesting transition to say the least.

Girls night
Austin was faboo. We did a whole lot of nothing and it couldn't have been more perfect. We ate, laughed, talked, and had full blow relaxation. R and I have been friends for going on 19 years now, yet we can still fill a solid 24 hours with great conversation. I am truly blessed!
Now, how soon is too soon to plot next years escape?

If you ask the magic eight ball...
Will hubby buy groceries today? "Better not tell you now"
Will Austin be a blast? "Concentrate and ask again"
Will Austin be a blast? "It is certain"
Will I enjoy unemployment? "Outlook good"
Will the Texans go to the Superbowl? "Reply hazy try again"
Will the Texans go to the Superbowl? "Cannot predict now"
Will I go crazy at home? "Yes Definately"
Will I ever go to Vegas again? "Outlook good"
Will I ever make it to New York City? "As I see it yes"
Will we be moving soon? "Without a doubt"
Anyone else have a question for the magic 8 ball?

FINALLY
My blog has been a mess for a long time due to my inability at work to ever update it properly. The stars are aligned today and I actually managed to fix it. Happiness for everyone!
Work is a mess, the ship is sinking and there are not enough life boats. I threw in my bid for one of the life boats, we shall see if I get one.
Little A has learned a new word. Not one we wanted her to learn. A couple of days ago I fell down on the front entry tiles, landed full weight on both knees, and in the moment of extreme pain I yelled a naughty word. She has not incorporated it into her own use of the word, but if you ask her about the accident she will tell you Mommy said "Oh Sh**".
Lovely, now I am going to have to brain wash that out of her head. Any good soap recommendations for a 3 year olds brain?

the toothless wonder
An employee called because she has a trip tomorrow, her front tooth fell out, and she doesn't know if she will be allowed to work.
Consulted the manual and the magic 8 ball, nope, no guidance there for the toothless wonder.
She called out sick.
The email to her bosses was the greatest one I have written all week.

Book store and nonsense
So far working in a book store has topped my list of desirable jobs. I haven't figured out an angle where working at one would cause undue stress, outside maybe the salary. What do book store clerks make these days?
Probably not enough, I would end up having to work at 5 of them and balancing the schedules would drive me mad and cause enough stress that I would wish I had my old job back. HA!
Girls weekend is rapidly approaching and while the bag isn't packed it is peaking out of my closet ready to go!

Teeth and Splashtown
The dentist finally managed to install the new bridge. I must say the new chompers are nice, and I am beyond ecstatic to not have that temporary bridge in my mouth anymore! Now I am going to go through the process of going back to see my old TMJD doctor. After 119 days of hell I can finally start back on the road of fixing my jaw. I will be going back to see the same Dr. that fixed it 9 years ago, hopefully he can work his magic again. The best part? I never have to go to that horrible dentist again! I am on the lookout for a new one, so if anyone has a recommendation, anything is better than the pig owner from Snatch.
Did you know that when you have a bridge you have to floss on top of it? The dental assistant filled me in while giving me a general lecture on flossing and showing me how to do it. Apparently if you don't food gets caught betweent the appliance and the gum and rots and stinks. GROSSED ME OUT!
Little A called me a while ago to tell me about riding the "adult" slide at Splashtown. Her daddy took her today and talked the attendant into letting her ride with him. She was beside herself with excitement. Yesterday I took her there and we spent then entire time in the lazy river, daddy has raised the bar on ride expectations today ...uggh I see a lot of ladder climbing in my future!

Extended vacations...
Are a wonderful thing! My plans to return to work on Wednesday were foiled by the rents impromptu excursion to the Indy 500. No babysitter= 3 extra days of vacation. BONUS!
It was a truly grand vacation, friends from Canada, Philly, new friend from St Louis all came down for a romp. And it was a grand romp, kid in tow and all. Little A had a little too much fun and is insisting on an immediate trip to Canada. She can even locate it on a map!
Little A had her 3rd birthday, I got to say Terrible Two's have NOTHING on the Three's. Good times, I say, good times!
Girls night out is in the planning stage, and honestly I cannot WAIT for the great escape! The yearly girl trip has become a true highlight of my mothering existence.
Went to the dentist again last week, the permanent bridge did not fit right..AGAIN. The temp bridge managed a whole week before it fell out, new all time high. Currently I am having to take pain killers every 4 hours or the Charley Horse that has been squatting on my face starts to hurt more than I can bear. Yes..charley horse. You know that high pitched stinging pain you get when you calf muscle tweaks out and bunches up in a knot. I have that pain on my face, specifically the right side on my jaw. Fucking hurts... yes I cursed it's THAT bad!

Business casual shorts?
Our office has a business casual policy, it's pretty casual as jeans are acceptable attire. The question of Bermuda pants came up today. For those unfamiliar think shorts that cover the knee, or capri's that come up high.
So the policy says no shorts. Do Bermuda shorts count? Or are they really Bermuda pants? They are kind of the mini skirt of the capri world. To me they are just long shorts, they push the envelope a bit in an office environment and I wouldn't wear them.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't send someone home for wearing them, I just personally don't think they are appropriate for work. To others they are acceptable wardrobe options for the office.. but I must point out that the V.P.'s don't wear them to work.. and you are supposed to dress for the job you want right?
BTW I am not talking about the ladies suits you can buy with that style pants, these are bright pink with a swirly black pattern on them.

Too much consumerism
The rents took their empty big screen box and made a house for Little A. It's a very cool cardboard house so this weekend Little A and I painted it to look a bit more homely (beige walls, blue roof with painted on shingles), she added some throw rugs for her "floor", a small table and chair, we rolled her kitchen up to the side, pasted some "wallpaper" on and she has herself a full fledged house!
Only problem is it's in MY house, which has become quite crowded with too many toys! She has her own play room, bedroom, art room, and yet her toys are still overflowing into the dining room! I have been boxing up old toys for the garage sale that I can't have in my neighborhood; yet I can't seem to downsize fast enough.
And now her 3rd birthday is looming with the prospect of even MORE toys... we are going to have to rent the house next door to store all of our stuff! Soon Hubby and I will be sleeping in the backyard.
Of course if you ask her Little A will tell you she needs more toys, in fact Mommy's sole purpose of working is to make more money to buy her shoes.

Call a taxi
Driving home last night I looked in my rearview and noticed someone tailgating me. There was not much traffic on the road so it was really unnecesary and annoying. He moved over into the right lane, drove a ways and then changed back into my lane to tailgate some more. At this point I figured the guy was drunk but there was a car beside me so I couldn't ease out of his way. He finally ended up going back into the right lane, I slowed up a bit so he would pass.
After passing me he swerved onto the shoulder of the freeway, got almost to the grass and then over corrected going past his lane and halfway into mine. I kept slowing and putting distance between us. He managed to stay in his own lane for about 30 seconds before he started drifting onto the shoulder again. But this time as he went onto the shoulder we were going under an overpass and instead of going into the grass he slammed into the wall. His SUV went up on two wheels after hitting the wall, he landed on all 4 and sped away. At the point of impact he was going at least 70, a few seconds later and I couldn't see his tail lates so I can't even imagine how fast he was going.
No, I didn't call the police, I didn't get his license plate and he sped away so fast there was no point. Hopefully he made it home safe and sound without harming anyone. If so I am sure he got up today, saw his car, and is having to put out some cash to fix it. Worst case scenario, someone else didn't make it home because of him. It infuriates me that there is even a possibility of a worst case scenario. If you drink don't drive, it is not rocket science. The money he would have spent on a cab is far less than what he is going to spend fixing his car... and that is if it was a best case scenario. The money he spent on a cab would be far less than the money he would spend in legal fees and so on if he hit someone.
We had a car totaled once because someone chose to drive drunk. Hubby was sitting at a stop light when he got rear ended by someone going 60. She could have called a cab or her husband but instead decided to drive and put my hubby in the hospital. So not worth it, and you can't blame the young, she was in her 30's... the guy last night looked around the same.
Don't do it!

I really do hate my dentist
Got tortured again by the evil, evil dentist. After jerking around on my poor mouth they assertained that the permanent bridge was not going to work and smacked yet a 4th temp on my poor teeth.
Later that day Little A and I went and met Mud and her 2 kiddoodles for a play date. The kids played together very well and loved the place we met at. At one point Little A was chasing down "Austin" to teach him how to play ring around the rosie. He was having none of it, just wait Little A, soon enough it will be the boys chasing you!
We went camping in Galveston this weekend. Can't say we really roughed it as we did not cook anything, there were bathrooms and showers, and a pool, hot tub, and splash pad. We slept on an air mattress, but we were outside and there were billions of love bugs. I think that is about as rough as I can go!

Houston, we have a problem
Little A and I were getting ready to go out to lunch yesterday, standing in the driveway she informed me that Little A had blown away and wasn't there anymore. I asked her what her name was, she said "Houston Hallow". I asked her where her parents where, she said they were at work. They work for the same company that I do and that she was spending the day with me since they weren't home. I asked if she went to the same school as Little A, she said no, she was in high school. I got HH into Little A's carseat and as we were driving out of the neighborhood she pointed at a house and told me that was where she lived.
Her personality didn't change through the day, she was still same old Little A, just calling herself a new name with a whole new backstory. At one point during the day she told me her name was Charlie Chaplan. Finally last night she wanted her blankie, I told her that was Aubrey's blankie. She looked at me and told me she was Aubrey again and asked me if I missed her.
Little A is very imaginative 2 year old, I told hubby that I was going to google Houston Hallow and if an obit showed up I was calling the Dr!

1 day off
yep, 1 day off since last Monday. Sucks. Haven't seen Little A since Sunday morning. Sucks. I have tomorrow off before going back to work Wednesday. Sucks. Oh well, such is the life in the airline, price you pay for pass benefits. Oh wait I haven't used those in forever. Sucks.
Yeah this week has sucked.
On a lighter note I have joined the Chessatwork.com cult. Far too much fun to be had there. Still dusting off the cobwebs, it's been a VERY long time since I have played but it's so much fun!
I have a long weekend coming up, maybe we can get out that camping gear?

Brain malfunction
I was in a training meeting on Monday and Tuesday and I swear that there was a guy there on Monday that wasn't there on Tuesday. Sub swears he was never there. I have gone retarded.
Beaten twice playing chess today. I kicked over the internet board and threw a tantrum. So much for being graceful.
It is a beautiful day and I want to go fly a kite, but alas I am stuck here in the office behind glass watching the beautiful day fade.

Ouchy arse
Last week while carrying Little A down the stairs I went kerplunk. It was only the last 3 steps and I took the brunt of the fall on my left cheek, Little A sustained no harm. As I sat on the floor at the bottom of the stairs assessing how bad the damage was she told me I needed new socks.. smart bugger.
Yesterday Hubby, Little A, and I went out for pizza and games. We discovered on Wednesdays the local pizza place turns on almost all of their games for free, including the bowling. So I started a game of bowling on my own lane, and it automatically starts with 5 players. So by myself I played for 5 people, after 10 frames each I noticed that the muscles around the left leg were a bit sore.
Got into work today and the combination of the majorly bruised left arse cheek along with overused muscles has created a painful, numb, weak leg. I am gimping it around the office today. It is almost the 1 year anniversary of the day I sprained my hip.
Seriously why do I fall down so much? I am F-d when I get old!

Fix it already
I am on my third temporary bridge. I hate my dentist and he hates me. He looks like the guy that owns the pigs from Snatch. His assistant hates me more than he does, there is no other way to explain the horrors they are inflicting... horrors that I have paid for.
Hmm, I have a dental recommendation for Hannah.

Craft show?
I have been making these mixed media collages for friends and family lately. I have a blast doing them and they look awesome. My mother mentioned that I should make a bunch and sell them, she suggested doing so at a craft fair.
For some reason the first thought that popped in my head was a booth with a little old lady selling things that she crocheted.
Hmmmmm, it's definately a consideration...we shall see.

Karma
Someone that I worked with decided last Friday to leave her badge in her file and send an email to the director that she quit... I was here but she didn't have the courtesy to tell me what she was doing or put in a 2 weeks notice. So Saturday we are trying to figure out why she no-showed b/c that email didn't go to everyone...we got it sorted and figured out she bailed on us.
On Monday someone from another department called to let us know that they wanted to hire her in their department, it would have been a pay raise and a better schedule but since she burned her bridges....no new job for her.
HAHA
The world is small, and Karma knows your name.

Question
If you quit your job, and on your last day of work everyone brings lots of food to celebrate does it cross your mind that they might be happy your leaving?
Well I am happy, and the food is good... it took all my will power not to buy champagne glasses to celebrate the departure of the coworker.
Now just a few more select people..hmm maybe I should post their resumes on Monster?

Vacation Friday
One of the best days of the year, the Friday before vacation... and after this hell week at work I need the break.
I think Sub needs a break too since he is wanting to punch people in their VJJ's.
Little A was cute as a button this morning insisting that it was time that I got up and had breakfast because it was light outside. She is such an angel.
Anyway, hope everyone has a great week!
oh, on the broken tooth.. 2 grand and 2 trips to the Dr should get it all replaced. Pliers would be so much cheaper but the Dr has gas so that is a bonus!

I broke my F-n tooth
On the way home last night from work half my tooth fell off along with the filling. Fillings are surprisingly heavy I discovered.
So now I am left with a hole (the outside of the tooth is still there so no gap when I smile..yet). I haven't had a hole in my mouth since I was a kid, it's surprisingly familiar though. I know that I spent many a year sticking my tongue in the holes left by my baby teeth... funny thing to take you back to childhood.
I have a bit of a lisp from this hole, I don't think it is noticable but I can hear it when I am speaking.
I wonder if the tooth fairy pays off on partial tooth loss?

Hot pink to copper
I am working on getting the hair to blonde, but between all of the weekends events there was no way to get to the hair place.. so yet again I dared to do my own. Yes I am glutten for punishment. Yesterday I tried out dark blonde, which seemed to lift out some of the pink and kind of tone down the hair. Maybe if I keep dying it every week it will tone down to a more natural color....either that or my hair will fall out and I will just have to let my freak flag fly.

Pink hair creates a lot of amusement at funerals.
We are having a funeral marathon, went to one on Friday and now we have a wake on Sunday and another funeral on Monday... bad week all round.

I stayed home and pinked myself
I had a fight with Clairol and I lost…. First I turned my hair yellow/orange… it was a train wreck. Then I tried using a dark red… I had two theories, either A I would have dark red hair and be rid of the horrible blonde accident, or B when you mix red and yellow you get brown which would just put me back at my normal hair color.
I was wrong on my theory and it turned a hot pink with orange highlights.
I had to go to work like this today, everyone is having a grand old time at my expense. I can do nothing but laugh with them because this is all my fault.
Moral of the story… don’t use 3 year old boxes of hair dye, pay a professional!!!
Hopefully after my scalp stops hurting I can get this fixed!!!
... oddly enough the feedback from co-workers has been quite positive. Apparently I work with a bunch of closet freaks and dirty old men. Today I have been compared to Jean Gray, Strawberry shortcake, some Telemundo chick, the chick from Fifth element, Gwen Stefani... now if I only had their bodies too!

Bye bye fingers
Today Little A was soaking in the tub.
She looked up and said "This is relaxing mom"
The she took her hands and slowly dipped them under the water and said bye bye fingers, as she raised them out of the water she said hello fingers... she did the same with her toes.
I envy her, to be able to lay in the tub and just relax and focus on how the water feels on your body. I don't think I have done that since my trip to London last year.

So Cool
To wake up in the morning with 2 crusty red eyes. Oh yeah baby Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me... I can give her pink eye for ya!
I think I picked it up at Little A's Dr's office. This is the second time in about a year, ridiculous I tell ya.

yuck
Little A got her first ear infection this week. And her first case of strep throat. I would rather her not experience these firsts but at least she is old enough to tell me what hurts.
This weekend she declared that she was a "guy" and walked up to me, shook my hand and said "nice to meet you."
Cause that is what guys do...

Swag is fun
I got to give out a bunch of freebie stuff today, pens and junk with our company name on it. Always fun times to give away junk.. I always wonder what happens to it, more stuff to clutter up peoples houses and get thrown away in 6 weeks when spring cleaning occurs. Oh well, made for a fun night.

Another lovely day
work work work
Got to see Little J today, after he left everyone commented on how polite he was.. of course he is (I am thinking in my head), he doesn't want his head shaved!!
Baby Loves Disco is tomorrow, we can't make this one but plan on making the one in February... I wish we could go tomorrow though, it really looks like fun.
The blog is pretty boring these days, just not in the mood to formulate thoughts for the masses.

Get out of my nose!
The hamster that was scratching up my nasal cavity has left the building... I am just dealing with the left over mess he left in my face... argh.
I have the dreaded sinus infection that is making the rounds, Yuck Yuck and double Yuck I must say.
So far Little A has dodged the bullet, but today she has a runny nose, so we must watch and see if it is bacteria multiplying in her sinus cavity or if it's just a reaction to the fact that the weather can't make up it's mind. 2 days ago I was running the A/C, yesterday the heater, it really is ridiculous.

Stuck sucker
On the way to drop her off today Little A was eating a sucker... I hear "MOMMY" in a panic from the back seat, turn around and the sucker is stuck to her cheek. She said that it hurt to pull it off so I told her to leave it there until we got to Grandma's and then we could get it of with some water. This was a good 10 minutes away from my parents house that she had to sit there with a sucker on her face.
It was wrong to laugh but I did (quietly).. It was wrong to take pictures, but I did... and then I called my mom who met us at the car with a camera.
We finally got the sucker off her face, it was very much like the tongue on a Christmas story :)

Too much Holly Jolly
Little A had enough Holly Jolly, wrapper ripping good times to last her all year.
She was an angel, she gave out hugs and kisses and thanked everyone. She also yelled and screamed, threw her share of the tantrums, and fussed about sharing toys.. typical kid stuff, but she sprinkled in her good manners between the tantrums so it created a tolerable balance.
The holidays fell on my days off so I really don't feel like I had a weekend. I am tired, tired, tired. Tomorrow is our 10 year anniversary! YAY... we are both working, BOO

So Lame
I was looking through the newspaper and saw pictures of the manufactured snow at a shopping area by our house....
Call me a grinch but it's so lame that we have to make our own snow.. why is it 80 degrees outside, or 30, nope back to 80... make up your mind!
I think I am going to have to look past the lameness and take the little A to play in the snow tomorrow before I go to work, it's all about the experiences for HER. And she and I shared the same experience of fearing Santa this week, he was flippin scary! The lady offered to take a picture with both of us since little A didn't want to go near him.. we would have both been screaming and crying, looking back it would have been a great photo though... but no, I ran out the door with my baby and we went to the toy store instead.
Santa scares me, I have no shame anymore.

I got A's
I took 2 classes this semester, A's in both, yay Momma.
No celebratory happy dance as I blew up the car engine on the drive home. boo Mama.
All Christmas presents are bought, now I just need magical fairies to come and clean my house and cook lots of food.
Anyone have any spare fairies hanging around? Maybe I should steal my friends Nanny, I hear she cleans like a champ.
Happy Holidays to all!

Where is the notebook when you need it
I had a great idea for a story at an obscene hour this morning as I hit snooze, the idea stayed with me all the way to the point of driving to work... and now.. gone. Poof.. lost in the breeze.
Darn this old lady brain. I need to implant post it notes and a pencil into my forehead. I would forget they were there though. ARGH. I blame menopause.
The weekend is fast approaching, the hour hand is creeping slowly but surely to my release. Plans... the park, swimming, trying not to melt in the 100+ degree heat. Nothing too exciting just a nice relaxing work free couple of days.

Back to school
What do you want to be when you grow up?
No clue, but I do know that I need a degree to do it! Time to bite the bullet and go back to school.
I have an appointment next week and I am going to try and take 1 class this upcoming semester. Between work and home I wonder how long it will take to get a degree doing 1 class per semester... someday I will be walking down the aisle to get my hard earned diploma; walker, gray hair and a row full of cheering great-grandkids!

Don't leave me Mommy!
Kiddoodle knows how to break your heart! I was just going to run to the store and grab some diapers and did not want to take her, it was getting to be pretty late, she needed to go to bed and being in the mood she was in I was not up for the "I don't want to sit in the shopping cart" meltdown that is inevitable when the stars are not aligned. She yells "don't leave me Mommy" so I brought kiddoodle along with hubby to sit in the car with her while I ran inside.
While I was out of her site she proceeded to throw the biggest crying fit, the meltdown that would have happened in the store happened in the confines of the car, saving the public from the eardrum splitting screams but rattling the hubby's nerves to the point I thought he was going to join her. I, on the other hand, had a nice albeit short, run through the grocery store kid free.

A new do
I am succumbing to the urge to write. I want to write a book, a novel, a short story, a play.. ok not really, the blog will do.
Currently reading Harry Potter, trying not to read it too fast, savoring it as much as possible. Which is quite easy with a very active 2 year old. I manged to sneak in a page here and there over my weekend but the story is just taking off. I had to put my other books on hold as Harry takes precedence.
Work is the same, sort of. The crazy busy has settled to a hum, mostly because we have adjusted to the crazy busy.
Moved to a new house in the Woodlands. The area just makes me laugh and laugh. We have a path behind our yard which you can follow through the woods to the park down the road, complete with a soccer field, skate park, tennis courts, small pond, and swimming pool. AG spends most of her days telling us she wants to go to the park, the girl is not happy unless she is outside. On Monday I was greeted at my door by the welcoming commitee. They gave me lots of coupons and maps to the area, literally a bag of stuff to go through. Our neighborhood kids have a lemonade stand where a cup of koolaid costs 50 cents. Too cute for words. The house itself has its quirks, flipping photos, flying candle holders and such but it is friendly enough maybe just a bit starved for attention.
Really nothing overly interesting going on, I have more down time now so hopefully I can keep this up.

Been a while...
Just haven't been much in the mood to write, not to mention that work has been to slammed to do so. 19 hour days = low writing libido.
Notable mentions since I last wrote..
Went to London for a few days with my girlfriend. We had a great girls weekend, I love that city.
Starting to plan daughters birthday party.
Birthmother has tentative plans to come and visit for my girls 2nd birthday, we are hoping that it works out..it's been too long since we have seen her.
Going to be moving soon, can't afford the place alone especially with the insance electric bill so we have to start house shopping again.
Other than that not much has changed, work is crazy busy, child is crazy busy, hubby is crazy busy.. story of my life.

Snake on a bike
I went to drop off movies yesterday. As I stepped up on the curb a young boy (probably 13ish) was coming down the sidewalk with an interesting scarf. A closer look at the scarf and I realized it was a HUGE snake wrapped around his shoulders.
I stopped walking and let him pass in front of me, the snake smiled as they rode by.
Seriously though what if the snake attacks you while your riding! WTF? What if you hit a bump and it falls off... there are an endless amounts of what if's that would make a normal person realize that maybe that is not the best idea. Snake lovers are an odd crowd.
My daughter was in the car but hubby pointed out the snake to her. She was freaked out and talked about it for quite a while. Blew her mind that someone had a snake on his arms!

David Lynch
A friend sent me a link to an article about Inland Empire. Of course there are no showings of the film in Houston, yes I checked even the "off the beaten path" theatres.. nothing. Going to have to wait for video..grr it's not the same as seeing it in a theatre though.
Oh and Lynch is having an exhibit in Paris!!! HELLOOO Paris!

Brains....
Craving for brains, red sticky eyes.. hmmm must be pink eye.. where is topical ointment?
Turn 30 and get pink eye, absolutely ridiculous. Next I will get chicken pox and mono. Seriously outside of elementary schoolers who gets pink eye??
I missed work, the baby had to go stay with the grandparents. I got to crochet and watch a ****load of Alias. Almost finished with season 4 b/c of the pink eye. It's really not that pink. It was red and bloody looking with lots of oozing like my eye was sad and just decided to cry non-stop. Now the bloody look is gone, the oozing has stopped but the eye still feels raw. Eye number 2 decided that it was sad for eye number one and started crying too, but I started the eye drops early and it got over it's depression quite quickly.
And let me tell ya, nothing says loving like waking up with a crusty eye. Happy Valentines Day!

Hysterectomy at a glance
I pulled all the old journal entries I could find that pertained to my surgeries in 2004. Figured my Hotflashin' journal would be a good resting place for them. I got a letter from my Dr. last week and he is quitting his practice, going back to school and working as some sort of Dr. Management type thing. He was the best Dr. I have ever had and I am going to miss him... so I decided to look up these old entries and repost them.
Male or Female?
Posted on May 4, 2004 at 3:11 PM
When you go to a Dr do you prefer a male or female?
I personally prefer a male; I find them to be more willing to listen to me and less likely to tell me it`s normal and to just suck it up. Met my OB/GYN (yes probably more info than you wanted) and he kind of reminds me of Christopher Lowell.
My hubby prefers a female..

We walked around the zoo on Monday; had a lovely day. I think we spent more time watching the people there than we did watching the animals.
There were 50 school buses parked outside; the majority of which had students from south of the border. They were LOUD!
There were a lot of baby animals and since it was nice outside they were all out playing; it was the perfect day for zoo watching.
Baby Follies
Posted on May 19, 2004 at 7:11 PM
Last week I had an ultrasound. They found endometrium cysts on both of my ovaries. I think we should have gotten the doctor to print out a picture to give to our parents; maybe it would help stave off the baby nagging.
Better yet I could keep the pictures for myself and every time someone asked when we are going to have kids (every single day by the way) I could whip the picture out and describe what the cysts are in horrid detail. That might stop the questions for at least a couple of hours :).
I could bring a basket of purple grapes to the next family get together and pass them out explaining that they were the cysts that were removed.. OMG I can just picture the horrified faces now... would probably give my grandmother a heart attack though. hmm better not.
You know how PETA throws red paint on people wearing fur? I am going to start throwing formula and dirty diapers at people who ask me when we are going to have kids!
:(
Posted on Jun 21, 2004 at 3:03 PM
I went for my pre-op appointment today. Wasn`t very much fun. I filled out more paperwork than you do when you buy a house!
So Wednesday morning they are going to knock me out and poke around my insides to see what they can see. The Dr. went over the uterus to see what he could see; the other side of the uterus was all that he could see... Who was that band?
ooh now I have that song stuck in my head
I have to go clean the house; people are coming over to visit after the surgery; and of course as all of our mother`s did mine drilled it into my head that you NEVER have a dirty house when company is coming over!
off to do some slave labor
Rummaging around
Posted on Jun 23, 2004 at 10:54 PM
Dr. W. did his rummage today. If I had children already he told my husband he would have just done a hysterectomy today. Apparently 10 years of endometric tissue has done quite a bit of damage. Funny thing is that if I had kids I wouldn`t have gone to see him in the first place. What a day. I got to keep my right ovary at least for a couple more months. He is going to put me into menopause for three months (complete with hot flashes and mood swings) and then go back in and do the "big" surgery. He told my family that he has every confidence that after he gets this all fixed I should be able to have children. I am sure that in another 10 years I will be getting that hysterectomy. I was kind of looking forward to missing out on menopause; but now I get to test drive it :).
p.s. all this information is brought to you second hand courtesy of hubby and my parents.
p.p.s. my belly button is "oozing" right now!
p.p.p.s. Sorry for spelling and grammar; for todays errors I blame the drugs; for past errors I blame this blog for not having spell check in the journal.
OUCH

I only got to sleep for 4 hours :( I am not wide awake but I hurt too much to lay back down..this really sucks.
I woke up this morning with Jay leaning his head on his hand and his elbow on my stomach. Plus I was dreaming that I was in a hospital and there was a decomposing corpse laying on the bed next to me. It kept looking at me and no matter how much I cried they wouldn`t take him away. No more scary movies before bed!
My day is not starting off too well; hopefully it will get better.

My mother is cooking my favorite dish for me. She can`t make it spicy but it should still be pretty darn good. It`s as unhealthy as it comes! It`s made with spaghetti, cheese, tomato sauce, spices, and chicken....mmmmmm
Oooof

Jay takes such good care of me. I woke him up at 7am b/c I wanted some spaghetti and I couldn`t pick up the pot. He got up and got my food for me and took out the nasty smelling trash; he is such a doll!
I am jealous!!

Everyone is having fun this weekend and I am too afraid to get in a car.
Our friends are meeting at a bar to celebrate our friends 200th beer there.
My in-laws are flying to NY for a vacation weekend.
My co-workers are gathering tomorrow for a house warming party.
I am stuck here with a really sore back from sleeping on the couch.
Now it`s raining!
Oops
Posted on Jun 28, 2004 at 1:59 PM
I was deleting some pictures; I guess that I grabbed the entire file instead of the few pictures that I wanted. I ended up deleting over 4000 pictures. So stupid!
The only ones that are lost forever were a few Las Vegas pictures and all of my Vancouver pictures. :(
I took on a huge project for my mother-in-law. They had 30 years of pictures tossed into plastic containers and put into really bad photo albums (the evil sticky kind that fall apart). I have been sorting through all of these photos and organizing them into photo boxes and new albums. I have been working on this non-stop since Friday night... and I have seen progress! Hallelujah!
No more rain!!
Posted on Jun 30, 2004 at 5:53 PM
I really wish that it would stop raining!! I am tired of watching water fall from the sky, tired of the hot muggy feeling you get when you walk outside. Rain is supposed to be cleansing; but this is just ridiculous.
I am back at work; sore as hell and sleepy. I am completely useless so I am sitting in the corner playing on the internet.
The rain has made me blahh....
waiting waiting waiting
Posted on Jul 6, 2004 at 10:58 PM
I am sitting here waiting for my jayberoo to come and pick me up. He took me to the DR today for my post-op thingy so I am carless.. carelessly carless. Not to be mistaken with the careless Carlos!
hmmm.. how was my day you ask?
First I had a lovely chat with the doc while sitting half naked on a table for 45min; followed by a lovely pelvic exam.
Then I got to be a condescending bitch to a pilot; I can`t even get him in trouble for being an asshole b/c I was such an asshole back to him..bad customer service.
Next I helped make a decision to bust an FAR; crossing our fingers about the nice little fine that may be incurred for that. And then I had a piece of chocolate cake. YUMMM
Needless to say I can`t wait to go home and be finished with my Monday... which in everyone elses world is a Tuesday, but since I have no Wednesday it all works out.. maybe I should cut down on my sugar intake before rambling on......
Biggest needle Ever
Posted on Jul 23, 2004 at 9:19 PM
I got stuck with a damn big needle today. I am not ashamed to admit that I squealed in fear when I first saw it! Today was my first Lupron shot..ever so exciting. I think that I am the first female in my family to go through menopause (temporarily); all of the others had their insides taken out before they turned 40.
My hip hurts from that shot!

notice that I used 2 not three x`s.... don`t ask why-I dunno.
I love the 80`s was on today, they did something on the Smurfs. I think it would be hilarious to stop using curse words and insert the word smurf instead. That would probably get people`s attention more than the curse words do.
Anyway the suckage that I was referring to was hot flashes. They are freakin ridiculous! The Dr. said it would take 1-2 weeks before the side effects kicked in, I think I am sensitive to drugs because the first night one hit me like a wall of heat. I was sitting in the living room with everyone chatting and it felt like the room got hot. I sat there and started sweating, Jay noticed and I complained the room was hot. Both he and Rachel gave me the "are you insane?" look and told me the room was cold.
Bloody hell.. three more months of this.....
I finished reading "We Need to talk about Kevin" last night. Pretty good book, it is written from the viewpoint of a mother who`s son went on a shooting rampage at school. Very sad but good. I am onto another book about some MIT students who won a lot of money in Vegas... I think it`s called "Bringing down the House".
Change of plans
Posted on Sep 13, 2004 at 11:54 PM
We decided yesterday that we are going to go to Germany instead of Rome. Jay saw a pbs special about Rothenburg which is a town that is geared towards Christmas... so we are going to go there instead. The plan now is to fly to Frankfurt and drive to Rothenburg.. The pictures there are gorgeous. We are leaving on the 28th.
Yesterday Rachel, Bill, and I went to orientation to volunteer at the Texas Children`s Hospital. I have my interview on the 27th with them...it seems like it will be a lot of fun. The want a 3 hour commitment once a week for 6 months. Good karma points, I think that the first thing I want to do there is hold the babies in the nursery, they have a ton of different things that you can do. Bill will make a good clown.
Today I went and got my last Lupron shot (hopefully). I meet with the doctor on the 27th to do a follow up and schedule my surgery. It`s going to be a very busy week!
Old Ladydom

Several things happened this week that I thought would Never occur...
1. taking up Catherines suggestion I bought a crochet kit... everyone is getting scarves for christmas!
2. I officially own a Mumu. No I didn`t pay for it but it is residing in my closet.
3. I have to get old lady underwear... that one is just too depressing to expand upon.
My surgery date is set for November 10th... all of the above is in preparation for that.
Anyone want to come and crochet with me?
Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

haha that noise tickles...
Last night I got a new program for my computer called Cosmic Paint.. its like doing splatter art with your computer TOOO much fun!!! It`s very addicting.
I also rented a game for the PS2 called Siren.. it was scary so I turned it off. Have to get up some gumption to play it.
I have to start a liquid diet 3 days before my surgery, Rachel has been trying to help find some decent recipes so that it doesn`t completely suck.. hmm Vodka is clear :)
Added a couple of Germany pictures to the gallery..
My first journal entry without a uterus
Posted on Nov 14, 2004 at 9:31 PM
Yep, that`s right you are all reading history in the making. This is the very first journal entry I have written since having my hysterectomy.
I have been dealing with it with humor... my first soda without a cervix, my first chicken without an ovary. Not everyone finds it as funny as I do. Oh well.
I am finally home after my 5 day stay in the hospital. We had such hell with the nurses there, I am glad I will never have to do that again! My epidural didn`t work, it got rid of my pain for the first few hours but that first night I woke up in awful pain. I cried for nearly 12 hours waiting for my doctor to come in. They finally removed my epidural and put me on a morphine drip. That was heavenly! My IV blew out yesterday and they put me on oral meds... not nearly as much fun as my morphine, which I could hit every 10 minutes.
They sent me home with this drain in my side, I will get it taken out next week. It`s really gross b/c I have to flush it out and measure the fluids every day. I offered Jay a shot of my juices.. he declined.
I don`t have to go back to work until Dec 22nd... so I have LOTS of time on my hands... kind of like a kid in a candy store, I don`t know what to do first! Unfortunately the need for sleep creeps up on me awfully fast.
Sleep well to all of you... with or without your ovaries!
The importance of setting an alarm
Posted on Nov 15, 2004 at 10:41 PM
I learned a valuable lesson today. When the directions on the pain medicine say to take them every 3-4 hours you must set an alarm to take them in the middle of the night. I woke up this morning around 11am in the most excruciating horrible pain. I was WAY overdue for taking my meds. I was in so much pain that I wasn`t paying enough attention when I went to the bathroom and I pulled my drainage tube partway out. I had to push it (gently) back in. OMG that hurt!! It only takes once to learn that lesson. Tonight I will be setting no less than 2 alarms.
I can`t wait to feel normal again!
Just a little infection
Posted on Nov 27, 2004 at 3:03 AM
I got home from the hospital yesterday.. again.
My incision became infected and after spending a miserable weekend with a fever of 103 they put me back in the hospital for a lovely 4 days of antibiotics.
The best part is draining my incision. Twice a day I get to take a huge q-tip and shove it around a bit and squeeze out all of the juices I can get. It`s really not as much fun as it sounds :)
I am feeling much better.. still walking funny but any day without having a fever is a good day for me!!

That is the current cost of my surgery, not including prescriptions.
I almost fell out of my chair when I calculated it. Thank goodness for insurance!! My responsibility will be $500. (not including prescriptions).
I think I will get that number put on my "1st year without a uterus" christmas ornament.
bleh blah blechhh

I had to go to the emergency room last sunday... after 10 hours and LOTS of tests they decided I had pleurisy. I have to say that freakin hurts!!!
I have spent the week resting in bed and recuperating... went to the Dr. on Friday and he said in 2 weeks when I come back he will consider releasing me to normal activities... such as driving!! woohoo!! I haven`t driven a car in almost 6 weeks and I miss it SO much!!
I haven`t been on here much because there is generally nothing to write about, life is pretty boring when all you can do is sit around the house. Television sucks! There are far too many reality shows, I live in reality... I don`t want to watch someone else`s. God bless DVD`s and VCR`s. I watched the entire Twin Peaks series again... that was awesome, made laying in bed not quite so bad.
Hope everyone is well and having a wonderful Holiday Season!

Wild Kingdom
I took little bit outside yesterday afternoon to toodle around the yard. The weather was beautiful and the animals were frisky. We were enjoying listening to the birds cheep and watching the squirrels dig up long buried nuts and feast away. We were watching one squirrel in particular because he was fairly close to us, just a few feet down the driveway, cute little grey thing.
He was minding his own business, keeping one eye on us and digging around in the yard when all of a sudden a big black cat pounced from out of nowhere. The cat landed on its back and proceeded to throttle and bite at the squirrels throat. Little bit ran to me wanting picked up b/c she knew something horrible was happening. I walked her into the backyard and out of view until the slaughter was over and the squirrel stopped screaming. Before I released her I stuck my head around the corner to make sure that cat wasn't eating the poor squirrel right there. There was no blood, just a couple of dusty paw prints in the dirt to indicate that anything had been there.
The neighborhood squirrels spent the next 10 minutes perched on their trees yelling at each other about what had happened. "Holy Shit did you see what happened to Joe?" "That cat came out of nowhere!" "Ayup that was old Ray's cat, he never got over the night that the squirrels abducted him." and of course there was one Nilly little squirrel three trees over saying "See kids that is why you always leave a note!"

30 is approaching
Next month I turn 30... (I just threw up in my mouth a little bit)
This impending date is not going over so well.
So I have decided that if I have to turn 30 I need to be in Vegas. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, so if turning 30 happens there then it will stay there!
Then I found out that due to SOMEONES new job I can't turn 30 in Vegas unless I want to be alone. Bah humbug.
I think I will have to make due with the weekend before or the weekend after, either way Vegas is a must, it's a demand, it's an order!

A letter to my husband
We are too poor for gift exchanges so I wrote him a letter. Why am I posting something so personal? Some people shout their love from rooftops, I am shouting mine from my blog. :)
Mistakitty,
No fancy presents, no fancy dinners, no fancy nights out. I do not need these things because I have you. You are the light of my life, my other half… I would not be me without you. Over the past 9 years of marriage I have experienced more joy and happiness than any fairy tale has ever promised. You are my rock in stormy weather, my inner voice when I am alone. I can go entire days without speaking to another person, yet not feel lonely because I always have you in my heart. We are not perfect people but we are perfect together, we have been since day one. You are truly my soul mate. I am the luckiest person in the world having met you, defying the odds and sitting next to you at a random concert 10 years ago, who would have thought it would bring me here. I am so completely in love with my husband, and I love our marriage. I have loved every moment of my life with you, thank you so much for sharing your life with me.
Love Always and Forever,
MissesKitty

Twas the Night Before Christmas
I am working this morning. Bah humbug I say! Someone at work sent us this cute little poem.. if you work in the airline industry enjoy, if not... you might not get the jokes but hope you enjoy the rhymes.
Merry Christmas Internetland!
The Night Before Christmas
It was the night before Christmas
At hundreds of Gates
They tried boarding the public
Having oversold space
Dispatch was snarling
And Crew Sked was worried
They had phoned the Reserves
"To the airport-please hurry"
The pilots were grumpy
Reservations was harried
The girls working trips
All wished they were married
Air Traffic Control
Up high in towers
Was posting delays
Of up to four hours
When the last flight departed
All stopped for a rest
They cursed Christmas travel
"Just look at this mess"
The stand-by's still waiting
With expression so sad
And those who got bumped
Were screaming like mad
Who wants Yuletide spirit
On a Christmas Eve trick?
Who wants to believe
In a guy named St. Nick?
But when all seemed so gloomy
And there was no Christmas cheer
The ground crews looked up
At a sound they did hear
For all of a sudden
From out of the night
Came a sound like loud thunder
And a blinking red light
They knew what was landing
Was no seven-three-seven
It was even to small
For a BAC One-Eleven
A voice split the darkness
It gurgled and chuckled
So happy and cheerful
The gloom simply buckled
"On ExpressJet and Delta
British Air and Northwest
On American and United
Don't stop for a rest"
"On planes of Boeing
And the whole Embraer fleet
Plus all MD-Eighties
You've got schedules to meet"
"On all you airlines
Commuters and shuttles
We're flying tonight
Don't give me rebuttals"
The blinking red light
Came close to the ground
And the cold winter night
Seemed to split at the sound
The lights on the runway
Were turned on full bright
They bathed the strange object
That had come from the night
It had no big cockpit
No wings nor a tail
No space for much baggage
Or even air mail
The onlookers gasped
No words could they say
For what had just landed
Was a jet-powered sleigh
One captain was stricken
With gross inferiority
For the man on the sleigh
Had more seniority
His beard was a-bobbin'
His clothes were all red
His build was so chubby
No more need be said
"I'm Santa!" he cried
In a joyous voice
They all had to listen
There was no other choice
"I know you're all tired
And feeling like Scrooge
You define the Christmas Spirit
As a bottle of booze"
"But remember, my friends
As you gripe and you groan
You've helped people fly
To their loved ones at home"
"They gave you no thanks
They took you for granted
But in each one of you was
A bit of old Santa"
"For this I do thank you
As I continue my flight"
Bringing Joy to the world
On his kerosene kite
He shoved on the throttles
T'was a glorious sight
As the sleigh left the runway
And sped through the night
They all shook their heads
Just a dream they insisted
On the ATC records
That flight's still unlisted
But it really did happen
Though it doesn't seem rational
At every world airport
From Indy to National
We expect your disbelieve
And the doubts we have raised
But it's still "MERRY CHRISTMAS"
From the gang at the Base

Zee happy family

And here we are.. darling daughter, doting mother, adoring father. I love the simplicity of the picture (yes I know it needs cropped, I am lazy) but there we are, no toys, no distractions just us, big smiles, and lots of love. Nothing sweeter in the world and I cherish every second of it.

Holiday In Vegas
I think it was South Park that brought up the subject of how long you have to wait before AIDS becomes funny. It was funny at our house today, no HIV is not funny, but mocking society's initial reaction and putting those fears into today's context was.
I played Susie Homemaker today, threw on an apron and cooked dinner. Something about the apron makes the food yummier.
I saw that they have opened the house from A Christmas Story as a museum up in Cleveland. I would love to run up there and visit. Also we need to go to New York City. I have been to Newark tons of times and seen the city's skyline from Jersey but I have yet to go into the city... unlike a certain hubby and roomate. And Vegas, the Bellagio is doing Christmas songs right now... if little bit wasn't around that is how we would be spending our weekends... but no amount of travelling is as much fun as hearing her giggle. I think when she is a bit older we will start up the travelling again, in the mean time my luggage is getting dusty and my flight benefits remain dormant.
I am cold, time to grab a blanket and watch some Arrested Development

Make your own people
Little girl was in LOVE with Elmo. On and on she went about Elmo, she would have watched him 24/7 if possible. I personally want to puke when I hear his theme song. His voice is like nails on a chalkboard or someone chewing their food in my ear. But she LOVES him so I suffer. Until recently.
We have introduced little one to The Cure, or Bob as she calls it. She adores Robert Smith (bob), Simon (mimon), jason, and rodger (roeerr). Yes yes I know, it's not the current line up but they are in the videos she likes and really it's too difficult to explain to an 18 month old child how people get fired and such.
arrr she is crying at the moment b/c she doesn't want to go to bed... I am off to soothe the savage beast.

Anoniniminity
My prior blog prior to this was read by people that I didn’t know all of the time. There was an average of 50 comments for nearly every entry, no matter how mundane. When I decided to stop using it and start a new one I didn’t expect it to be read by people that I didn’t know. It’s not set to private or anything, so I knew that the possibility was there, but this site is not like the last one where there was a whole community chatting and such, blogging there was definitely a secondary function for most people on that site.
I was really (pleasantly) surprised to find comments from absolute strangers. The UK comments I could understand since I am linked to Subs blog on here (see Peepay Gonzales in the links below). But I was floored to see a comment from Jenny (see comments from previous entry). I went to her MamaDrama blog and absolutely cracked up at the picture of the scariest poodle in all creation. I showed hubby the picture (he HATES poodles) and he freaked out at the picture as well. I have always enjoyed the 6 degrees of separation game, and of course have always be astounded at the things that you randomly find on the internet, but to be able to link my brother cutting his thumb on a sword and the scariest picture of a poodle ever makes me so happy.
I have not seen his thumb since it was sewn back on but I got a progress report on it from my dad. He said it was still pretty horror show. The skin in the middle of the cut seems to be faring well, the stuff on the edges looks like it is dying. The Dr said that it would probably not survive since the cut was pretty close to the surface on the outer edge. And I am still kicking myself for not taking the camera, it would be so great to show you a before and after shot.
The Christmas cards are addressed. The main “card” which is really just our picture with a border that says Merry Christmas, is stuffed into the envelopes. But the Christmas letter is not ready. I have written it but I think that instead of sending the letter I am going to make a “year in pictures” collage instead. I have not decided which is worse/better, a letter describe my beautiful child or 100 little pictures crammed on 1 page. I am really leaning towards the pictures I just have to figure out if the program I am using to make it will be able to be printed at Kinkos, I don’t want to waste my ink!
My daughters “play date” was pretty funny yesterday. They are getting to the age where they want what the other person has, they are both on the verge of yelling “MINE”, at this point they just bumble over to each other and steal and then the other one pouts. Pretty amazing watching your child learn social graces.

HAHAHAHAAAAA
My stomach hurts from laughing so much!!!!
My little brother called me tonight b/c he needed help. The parents were in Galveston and he cut his thumb on his sword... yes his sword! *begin laughing now*
I packed up the kiddo and ran over there to find him standing in the yard holding his thumb on. It had cut through his nail and across the edge of his thumb. There was a tiny flap of skin holding it on. After assesing that a bandaid would probably not work we hopped in the car and drove to the emergency room.
Thank god for grandparents, they came and got my daughter so hopefully she will not come down with any crazy illness from being at the emergency room.
Anyway, normal emergency room visits are usually fairly dull... but when your with someone whos thumb is hanging off it's pretty entertaining. He sat there and bled while waiting to be called up. The other fine patrons of the Friday night emergency room kept wandering over and asking to see his nearly severed appendage..and of course asked how he did it so he had to explain multiple times that he was unpackaging his sword (HaHAHAHAHA) and sliced his thumb.
After the parade of orderlies and patients gawking he finally got to go to his own private little room. The nurse cleaned it up with a syringe of water... it flapped and bled a lot... gave him a shot to numb it... and started sewing. The shot didn't work very well, he squealed a lot while they were sewing, and of course the nurse dutifully explained that no he was not feeling pain, that it was all in his head and all he was feeling was pressure... HAHAHAHAAAAA
5 stitches later, two of which were THROUGH his fingernail another nurse came in and cleaned it up and bandaged it. We sat and waited and waited and waited for his discharge papers. I found the remote for the t.v. and flipped channels (wishing I had found it about 30 minutes earlier). Finally they came with the papers and the lady explained what the prescriptions were, an anti inflamatory and an antibiotic. My ears perked up b/c I didn't hear anything about pain meds so I asked her what he should do for the pain... she pointed to his prescription of Motrin and said that should take care of it. HAHAHAHAAAAA You go in with a cough and they give you vicodin, cut of your thumb and you get Motrin!!???!!!!
I took him home and he showed me the weapon of mass destruction that took off his thumb, you could see the marks of how deep it went. Being the clean freak that my mom is she has trained her children well... no drips of blood anywhere but the bathroom!
He paid $11 for the sword.
$500 for the emergency room visit
$60 for the meds
But getting to laugh at my brother all night was PRICELESS!!!!

Absolution
Osteoporosis.
Am I spelling that wrong? Oh well, the Dr. did another bone density scan this week. I lost less bone than last year but I am still losing too much to quickly. The good news is that when I do develop the osteo there is a treatment that will regenerate the bone, you just have to have a shot every single day for 2 years. The f***? That is good news?? I gave my Dr. the Mike face and she asked me if I was Ok. I told her I was a bit shocked by the news since I had just gone in b/c I thought I had the flu and wanted to get a flu test.
*note* I did not have the flu just the most wicked stomach virus EVER *end note*
So in order to put off getting the freaking shots for 2 years or taking medicine for the rest of my life (another preventitive option) the Doc said I could try a less evasive regime for another year. SO, estrogen, 1500 mg of calcium, vitamin D to help absorb the calcium, weight bearing exercise, and cutting down on caffeine. Grand times I tell ya. The boss lady wants a workout buddy so I am thinking of joining her gym and going after I get off work. Makes for a good excuse to buy an ipod! I think that is going to be my silver lining, yeah the bones are falling apart but I finally get the ipod.
I should change my name to hotflashinbonecrackinmomma.

Angry white chick hates questions
One of those bitching days I think. People make stupid comments and ask stupid questions every day, today is no different but a lack of sleep has made me cranky and if it weren’t frowned upon I think I would smack em.
1. Are you pregnant?
Females of reproductive age suffer this question every time an upset stomach or a food craving occurs. It’s none of your business!
2. When are going to have another baby?
Well I didn’t HAVE a baby in the traditional sense so I won’t be HAVING another thank you. Of course they next question is always why not? Because my uterus has completely decomposed in some medical waste bag!
3. Why did they give her up?
She was not given up, given away, or rejected. It’s none of your fucking business why we are her parents and to insinuate that she was just dumped infuriates me to no end.
4. My cousin, friend, neighbor, etc. got pregnant right after they adopted, bet it will happen to you too.
I think that a severe infection would occur if the Dr put my rotted uterus back in so no I don’t think that will be happening, not really a fan of birthing maggots.
5. You are too young to have hot flashes.
No shit.
6. When are you going to adopt another one?
When you loan me 20K and carry the baby for me.
7. I didn’t know you were pregnant!
This comment always occurs after a co-worker that I don’t speak with about my personal life finds out I have a 1 ½ year old… my response is always “I wasn’t” and then I watch with my twisted humor as their face gets the inevitable questioning look.
8. Date of your last period?
I know the Dr’s office has to ask this, and if I was a new patient I could understand but it’s been almost 2 freaking years, can’t they ever read the damn file first?
9. Are you going to tell her she’s adopted?
Why, are you going to drop the bomb for us? Are you going to tell your kids how much you like anal sex? It’s none of your business!!!!
10. Awe, that’s great we thought about adopting too.
No you haven’t, you do not want a social worker prying into your private life, looking at your finances, checking out how clean your carpet is. Just because the thought crossed your mind one time when you saw Sally trying to convince you to feed an orphan doesn’t count as considering adoption. Stop trying to fit in!
Honestly I don’t mind discussing adoptions, hysterectomies, or astrophysics with sane people, but random strangers making stupid comments and asking rude questions brings out this sick, dark sense of humor and I start babbling about maggots and rotting uterus’ just for the small chance I might actually make someone vomit.
Then I can ask are you pregnant?

Sick sub sucks snot
F-er got me sick, guess he sneezed on the remote or something and and now I am drowning in a sea of snot.
If I say that out loud it sounds like "F-er got be sick, guess he sdeezed od the rebote or sobething and dow I ab drowding id a sea of sdot".
Last night hubby and I were debating whether or not to watch a 2nd movie, I told him I was running out of time before I had to go to sleep. He said what is tibe? F-ers everywhere.
I came to work like a good girl to take care of the bidness that needs done for meetings and such today and hopefully when the boss lady gets here I can take the rest of the day as a sick call.
On a brighter note yesterday when I first started getting sick I was at a meeting where all the big whigs were. I shook all their hands so I may have single handedly taken down an airline by spreading my germs... world domination one virus at a time.
Peace out

Too much sleep
Is it possible to really go too much sleep? After the way I feel today I have to say yes. My back hurts, my neck is sore...causing a headache and I can't stop yawning. 11 hours last night, mostly uninterupted and I have a sleep hangover. Yes there are worse things in life, hot flashes for example. Speaking of.. I have to get my estrogen refilled ASAP. They are starting to come more and more regularly and let me tell ya there is nothing better than sitting in a meeting with the big wigs and sweating your boobs off. BLLEEECCHHH. Nothing says loving like a sweaty Mommy... I wonder why they don't pay me more :) Work is good, getting better but can't say why yet. Good news is coming.
Weekend trip to Galveston was a BLAST! We took full advantage of no responsibilites. Veered off to look at anything we wanted, lingered in antique stores with no worries of breakage. Went out for drinks like REAL adults. Ordered pizza for delivery at 1:30 in the morning and munched on it while watching out of our hotel window at someone getting bitch slapped by a drunk girl. Woke up late and wandered down to the beach. It was FABOO. Travelling with my friend is like taking along a celebrity in the hotel world. She has done so much travelling for work that when we checked in they had wine, fruit, and a lovely little note addressed to her waiting in our room. Oh God the room.. we stayed at the Tremont Hotel in Galveston. It's a block off the strand and it's fabulous. We had a sitting room, a bar, a huge bathroom and 2 queen size beds. 20 foot ceilings allowed us to jump on our respective beds like little school girls without the worry of cracking skulls. The roof has a bar/patio area with a lovely view of the city, we took full advantage. We were both happy to go home to our kids and hubbies but for a good 24 hours it was so nice to just be with another female and talk and talk and talk.
Girly Time=Good time!
